Mark, from your lessons I see that I have used integrated thinking in some form most of my life. I have been with my company for 30 years. I have always come up with ways to improve the business and make more money for the company.
Many of my bosses have stolen the credit for my ideas and sometimes I was even told to stop doing what I was doing only to have my idea come out a year later as the latest new idea. One explanation I was given onetime was that I was making enemies of those in the corporate side because they were getting in trouble for not being able to come up with ideas when a lowly manager was able to.
My problem was that I was not politically minded and never was able to play the games necessary to get higher in my company. I just wanted to make as much money as possible and was adequately rewarded. Others whole agenda was to promote their next political station and the owner and the CEO were of the same mentality.
I am now looking at what I can do outside of my work to create values and one day begin my own value creating business.
